The Ultimate Get Sober Checklist
This guide walks you through a list of tips and steps to help you escape the painful cycle of addiction. You deserve to wake up in the morning feeling happy, healthy, and free. Let's begin...
Alcohol may have played an important role in your life. It certainly did in mine, but at a certain point, it stops being your friend, and becomes your deadliest enemy.
You know the damage that it’s causing you; you even have moments of clarity where you know you never want to drink again. But then something happens!
You have that moment, where it seems like you can handle anything. Just one won’t hurt, right? And on it goes. Round and round.
Maybe you tried to quit, and maybe you were successful for a time, but then, at a certain point, the indifference set in, and you picked up a drink.
I know how you’re feeling. I’ve been there myself. It’s hard and it’s painful, but you aren’t alone. Let’s take this journey together.
I promise, there is a way out, and it doesn’t have to be so hard. I convinced myself that I would be stuck forever in the cycle of drinking.
But here I am, nearly 2 years sober.
So if you’re ready to start living a life free from alcohol, keep reading.
Promise yourself you won’t drink again, until evening rolls around…?
Find it hard to stop drinking once you start?
Convince yourself that you’re using alcohol to relax or have fun, but you worry deep down there’s a problem?
Set rules about drinking and then break them?
Fear you may be alienating the people close to you – friends and family?
Feel stuck in a cycle of drinking followed by anxiety and regret?
If this sounds like you, I’ve got some good news
I started drinking at 13 years old. Alcohol instantly relieved my social anxiety and made me feel powerful, like I could do anything. It helped me escape being me: I was confident; I was actually funny!
I probably realised it was a problem at University, but I didn’t stop. I drank most days so I didn’t have to face my life or my reality, my thoughts or emotions. As time went by, it got worse. I’d try to control my drinking, convince myself I was OK. It’s only now, looking back, that I see how seriously not-OK I was.
When I started meditating, something shifted. It was through my mindfulness practice, ongoing support, and studying my inner world that I was finally able to get free of alcohol. And since you’re here, something tells me that maybe you’re ready to quit drinking too.
I’m a certified meditation teacher and recovery coach and I help people struggling with alcohol to quit drinking so they can reconnect with joy, clarity, and inner peace.
Maybe you’ve always enjoyed a drink, but recently you’ve found it hard to control. You wish you could just have one or two drinks, but it never works out. Well, my friend, there’s good news and bad.
First the bad — once drinking has become a problem and you lose control, it’s unlikely that the problem is going to go away if you keep drinking. How can you control something when its very nature is to make you lose control?
But the good news — there are millions of people out there enjoying a sober life, many of whom have come from the depths of rock bottom. Now, you may not be that bad, but if drink is affecting your life and health in negative ways, it’s time to let it go.
I know it’s scary, but you can do it. If I can do it, then you definitely can. And you will realise that your life will be so much better without it.
Alcohol has caused more damage to our individual lives and to our society than most people know. And beyond the obvious, clearly apparent effects like killing people, tearing their lives to shreds, and giving all manner of diseases, there’s another reason why alcohol is so destructive. And that goes something like this:
Alcohol destroys your best qualities before they even have a chance to develop.
So instead of learning how to be confident, you drink alcohol for dutch courage; Instead of learning how to be emotionally mature, you drown your emotions in alcohol so you don’t have to face up to them; instead of learning how to find happiness, we seek it instead in blurry nights of false fun.
It prevents us from evolving, prevents us from growing, and from learning life’s most valuable lessons. Eventually we grow to depend on it just to have fun, relax, or feel like we’re OK.
So now we have to relearn what it means to live our lives. We have to start over and reclaim our inner power.
Two Steps From Bliss was created to help people like you remember how to live your life without the need for alcohol. We never needed it when we were kids, so when did we conclude that we needed this toxic stuff just to get through the day?
But we don’t just want to quit drinking. It doesn’t stop there!
We want to empower ourselves, live our best lives, and find true meaning and long-term joy. We want to reclaim what we’ve left behind, reconnect with who we are and feel alive again.
Just think for a minute about what alcohol has done for you. Or should I say, what it has stolen from you. What are your dreams? Who would you be? I want you to really think about that. What’s important to you in this life, because that’s what we want to work towards — our true desires.
And sometimes our desires hide behind our fears. When we get sober, sometimes we have to face up to some of those fears, and that’s ok.
This is your chance to break free from the chains of alcohol. I remember how I felt like I would never escape those chains, like I would always need a drink in this situation or that, on holiday, or at a wedding. How could I possibly get through those events without a drink?
But now I can and I do. I know I can face any and every situation without alcohol.
And I know that you can too. You just have to believe it.
In our individualistic world, we think that asking for help is weak, that we should be able to overcome our problems by ourselves. This is probably the greatest mistake we make, especially when it comes to alcohol. It was my greatest mistake for years.
Since I first spoke with a meditation teacher, I have not stopped asking for support in all areas of my life. I have spiritual teachers, sobriety coaches, business mentors, and astrology instructors. I know that without their support, I would not be where I am today, helping other people get sober and live their best lives. I’d be at the bottom of a bottle.
We’re in this together, and if we want to escape the prison of alcohol, we have to be willing to say, “My friend, I have a problem and I think I may need help.”
There is great freedom in admitting that you have a problem and asking for support.
Hear these words
You can continue to hope that it will just get better, that you will magically find your way out of one of the most difficult situations a human can find himself in — addiction — or you can take action today.
Don’t look back ten years from now and realise you’ve wasted another ten years of your life. Get to work today.
Stop suffering in silence.
Stop putting it off until tomorrow, because tomorrow never comes.
You have to begin today.
Now is the time.
It’s time to put the drinking chapter behind you so that it becomes a distant memory, a fading fragment in the life of You.
It’s time to figure out what you want and what you’re most afraid of so you can begin fulfilling your true purpose.

When I got sober, I was able to finally confront my difficult emotions instead of trying to hide them away. So when anxiety, fear, or anger came up, I accepted them — I allowed them to be there. I started facing my fears, and living my dreams. I started making videos, writing, putting myself out there. I found a community, started meditating, and finally felt like my life had meaning and purpose.
“There are clear goals to follow and these are very achievable with the right amount of time and effort. Nick provided me with this opportunity and I’m so grateful for the step-by-step approach to this amazing way of living.
When I first started practicing meditation, I struggled to quiet my mind. I thought it would be impossible. But as I grew my practice, it became easier. Then the challenge came from past and difficult emotions that came up. I didn’t know how to deal with them.
I struggled with awareness, mindfulness and taking action because of this. I didn’t know where to start. But working with Nick has outlined how to do that perfectly and given me the knowledge and tools to do so. I am very grateful!”
I needed a teacher to listen to my past and present hurdles in practicing meditation. I genuinely felt Nick listened to each issue and offered suggestions accordingly.
l found a structure in meditation. The weekly sessions were very productive in terms of motivation, and there was a clear explanation of each new concept introduced.
This, along with the recording, the follow up emails containing links, and the summaries of each point discussed in the sessions were of great help. I found Nick to be a very good teacher who is patient, understanding, empathetic and passionate. l benefitted so much.”
